Captain Planet was one of the most iconic cartoon series of the 1990s and when all the Planeteers combined forces they brought forth the buffest, bluest pollution-fighting dude ever created – Captain Planet!

If you never watched the show, it’s one of HB’s childhood favourites, and was about a group of teenagers who each wore a ring that let them control an element of our world: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart. When they combined forces they summoned “Captain Planet” to fight evil-doers and save planet Earth. Solid stuff.

For this series of works HB has recreated every character in his unique style. Each has been modernised from the original cartoon aesthetic and is surrounded by things that relate to their unique power. With the Captain here it’s a combination of things as he’s a mixture of all the powers – you’ll notice trash and pollution which is a key theme in the show, as well as some of HB’s favourite animals being tied up with rubbish, and some nostalgic throwbacks to the 90s era (candy and brands from that time).

The large-scale original framed work is a one-of-a-kind A1 print, which has been printed on hand-made Japanese watercolour paper with high quality Giclée inks. It has been floated inside an ornate frame under glass and looks stunning. Never to be repeated.
